Mirror.cs.vt.edu is a Public mirror archive for many lesser-known linux distributions. This site strives to provide exposure to additional flavors of linux, while not duplicating content on our sister site, http://mirror.cc.vt.edu/, run by the university.

 



ArchLinux
A i686-optimized linux distribution targeted at competent linux users.
CentOS
Community ENTerprise Operating System - built from publically available open source RPMS provided by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor.
Knoppix STD
Knoppix Security Tools Distribution - based on Knoppix, but with penetration testing and analyzing tools for white hats and network admins.
MEPIS Linux
Simple to use, and everything "just works" out of the box. Great distribution for new Linux users.
Slackware
The ever-popular slackware - for power users and people who want to learn "how it really works".
Cygwin
Allows you to run X11 applications on windows, for example via an SSH tunnel. Also an entire Linux environment and API on Windows.
Raw Access
Manually browse the Mirrors. Accessable also via ftp.
