Biography

Ing-Ray Chen received the BS degree from the National Taiwan University, and the MS and PhD degrees in computer science from the University of Houston, University Park.

He is a professor of Department of Computer Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, he was on the faculty of Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at the National Cheng Kung University, Tainan, Taiwan, during 1995-96, and Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Mississippi during 1989-1994. His research interests are in mobile and pervasive computing, security, sensor networks, multimedia, data management, reliability and performance analysis, and real-time intelligent systems.

Dr. Chen is a member of the IEEE/CS and ACM.
