PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Center for HCI, Department of Computer Science, Virginia Tech 8/2004 - Present
Research Scientist, Associate Director of Vision Interfaces and Systems Laboratory
Responsible for the day to day management of projects at the Vision Interfaces and Systems Laboratory.
Coordinated all aspects of a $2,000,000 multi-site ARDA VACE II research grant entitled "From Video to Information: Cross-Modal Analysis of Planning Meetings".
Developed several novel algorithms for multimodal analysis of meetings. These include methods to calibrate multiple cameras into a single coordinate system; algorithms for head modeling and tracking, mouth and eye tracking, speaker localization; new approaches for hand gesture tracking using an adaptive skin color model; hand gesture feature extraction; and techniques to analyze and interpret hand motion gestures from video.
Instrumental in the execution and winning of numerous technical and scientific government funded projects including.
Taught a graduate-level computer science course on Pattern Classification and Clustering.
Mentored young researchers and supervised their work.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Wright State University
Assistant Research Professor 7/2002- 8/2004
Research Assistant 1/2001- 6/2002
Researched and developed systems and algorithms in the interdisciplinary fields of video based detection and tracking, computer vision, UAV image registration, pattern recognition, machine learning, video based multimodal meeting analysis, and computational models for gesture, speech, and gaze;
