Md Salman Ahmed's CV

About Me

I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. degree in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (popularly known as Virginia Tech). I am working with Dr. Daphne Yao. I obtained my Master's degree in Computer Science from East Tennesse State University in May 2017. I worked with Dr. Mohammad A Hoque at Vehicular Network Laboratory (VNL). I completed my BS in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I worked as both Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer at Samsung R&D Institute Bangladesh.

Reserach Interests

I am broadly interested in researching system security. More specifically, I analyze programs to find vulnerabilities that affect the computer systems, assess defense mechanisms to find loopholes in those defenses and extract exploit-patterns to make a unified framework to describe various attacks. I also conduct data-driven security to ensure the integrity of computer systems. Broadly, my research falls under the following areas.

  • System security
  • Program analysis
  • Security of embedded systems
  • Data-driven security
  • Security in connected vehicle technology
