Most learning is not hard compared to creating the conditions under which people wish to learn. Part of the challenge of teaching is helping students regulate attention in a way compatible with this. Technology changes people's attentional capacities, sometimes for the better and sometimes for worst. Changing their attentional capacities affects emotions and motivations, and the desire for more or less environmental stimulation.

Until we understand this layer of classroom existence better, we will be unable to evaluate educational technologies effectively and their differential impact in more and less priveleged classroom environments.
