Hello.
I am Ajit Kulkarni pursuing my Masters in Computer Science at Virginia Tech. I joined VT in the Fall of 2006. I am currently in my final semester and am expecting to graduate in May 2008 after which I plan to join Cisco Systems in San Jose CA. I am currently a Graduate Research Assistant at the NDSSL lab at Virginia BioInformatics Institute . My webpage at the NDSSL lab is here.My advisor is Dr. Wu-Chun Feng and my research interests are Distributed Computing ,Grid Computing ,Virtualization and Service Oriented Architectures. My research focusses on virtual desktop grid computing. I did a internship in the summer of 2007 at Qualcomm Inc in San Diego CA.
Before joining Virginia Tech I worked for two years in Amdocs in Pune,India. There my work was mainly in the telecom billing software domain implementing business logic for postpaid and prepaid billing systems using J2EE with the Weblogic application server.This included many interesting trips to customer sites in Taiwan and China and also to other development centres in Cyprus.Prior to that I briefly worked in NSE-IT.(National Stock Exchange of India).
I have taken some very interesting courses , details of which can be found under the courses section. I have also considerable interest in the telecom domain as most of my work experience has been in companies in it.

I did my undergraduate degree of Bachelor in Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues Institute of Technology ,Vashi Navi Mumbai ,affiliated to University of Mumbai ,India in 2004.
For the past months I have been writing down some of my ideas for the technology industry and for different technology companies.These ideas consider different aspects of a company like research, business, technical stuff and also its commitment to society.If you would like to know about them please contact me.

Merits and Awards
I stood third in the University of Mumbai in 2004 in the Computer Science and Engineering major among nearly 2500-3000 students. I was also conferred the Fr. C. Rodrigues Memorial prize in 2004 for being the 'Student of the Year' at my college. I also received the Dr. J.R.D. Tata scholarship for academic excellence in 2002.
