Research Interests
My research currently focusses on grid computing and virtual machines. Virtualization has revolutionized the computing world where you can run one operating system on top of another . Can this technology be incorporated into high performance computing? This could be a very interesting step ahead for the high performance computing and the virtualization community. I have done some very interesting work so far and am very excited about it.
Some preliminary work I have done so far includes
-
Construct a grid of 2 virtual machines using QEMU on a single physical machine with Linux as the host and guest OS.
- Get these virtual machines talking to each other and the internet through the physical machine using Network Address translation.
- Developed a web services framework where jobs can be submitted to the virtual machines using Apache Axis and Tomcat.
- Develop a web service framework to create, start, stop, suspend virtual machines in the backend.
- Run simple MPI applications between using the physical and virtual machines forming a virtual supercomputer.
