Current Projects:
Research Assistantship at Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI): (Spring 2008 Virginia Tech)
- Develop a digital library interface for querying the results of epidemiological simulations.
- A simulation may have been run already hence we provide a web services based query interface which can get simulation results faster.
A Service oriented architecture for a virtual desktop grid environment on arbitrary computing back ends:
(Research; Virginia Tech)
- Create a grid of virtual machines and implement a framework for submitting jobs to them.
- The job submission framework is generic to support an arbitrary computing back ends which changes according to network conditions.
Traditional TCP vs Composite TCP: (Fall 2007 Virginia Tech)
- Compare performance tradeoffs between traditional TCP and composite TCP (composition of a sequence of shorter TCP connections).
- Construct performance model to make decisions to select either.
On Demand Virtual Computing Laboratory using Virtual machines: (Fall 2007 Virginia Tech)
- To create a framework for dynamic creation and management of virtual machines providing them as a computing resource on demand.
- Virtual machines provided as a customized computing resource on demand over the web.
Research Assistantship at Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI): (Spring and Fall 2007 Virginia Tech)
- Development of web service framework to run simulation jobs.
- Use of SOAP, WSDL, Apache Axis and Tomcat with Eclipse.
Previous Projects:
Automation of CDMA IS919A standard test protocols (Summer 2007 Qualcomm Inc.)
- Test of protocols for interaction between phones and base stations using Perl automation scripts.
- Protocols as part of CDMA IS919A high data rate transfer standard
Programming on the IBM Cell broadband engine architecture: (Spring 2007 Virginia Tech)
- Term project for CS5504 Computer Architecture.
- Work on programming the IBM Cell broadband engine architecture.
- Porting an existing NASA LU parallel benchmark code to the IBM Cell broadband engine.
Image Annotation and Retrieval Tool for Microsoft Sensecam on Microsoft Tablet PC:
(Spring 2007 Virginia Tech)
- Term project for CS 5604 Information Storage and Retrieval, project for Microsoft Research.
- Developing a tool to annotate and retrieve images from Microsoft Sensecam.
- Application made for tablet PC’s using Microsoft tablet PC SDK.
Steganography and Digital Watermarking:( Spring 2007 Virginia Tech)
- Term project for CS6604 Digital Libraries.
- Develop an application to encode and decode hidden data in images.
- Implementing algorithms for steganography and digital watermarking.
Implementation of Narada protocol for End System Multicast: (Fall 2006 Virginia Tech)
- Term project for CS5204 Operating Systems.
- Narada , a protocol for End system multicast was implemented this in java.
- Features like group creation member join, leave, failure implemented.
- Use of a network simulator called JNS( java network simulator)..
Display of Historical information in the context of geographic constraints: (Fall 2006 Virginia Tech)
- Term project for CS6724 Aware and Embodied Interaction
- Depiction of historical information in a geographically constrained aware system
- Display of historical data on a static 3D terrain map by projecting information.
- Implementation of networking and the motion capture components of system in C++.
Foot Tracking: (Fall 2006 Virginia Tech)
- Design and conducting experiments and gathering pilot data for Dr.Francis Quek’s proposal.
- Proposal dealt with estimating the head orientation using foot position and orientation.
- Future research work possible depending on result of proposal.
Hands Free Computing using Speech Recognition: (Undergraduate project final year 2004)
- System to operate a computer using just speech commands only.
- Used Microsoft Speech SDK with a back end in VC++ and a front end GUI in VB.
- Different windows applications and different keystroke commands (eg Copy CTRL + C) implemented.
Air Travel Agency: (Undergraduate class project junior year 2003)
- System for buying air tickets and automating other features of an Air Travel Agency.
- GUI in VB and a backend in MS-SQL.
Quiz Game: (Undergraduate class project junior year 2003)
- Implemented the popular quiz game ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire?’ in C++ using OOP concepts.
- Similar to real game with questions and lifelines.
