Papers must be in English. It is strongly recommended that papers be submitted electronically. Please follow the instructions described on the Electronic Submission Web Page (follow a link from IEEE-VR2001 top page). Authors who do not have web access should contact one of the program co-chairs listed below. Submitted papers should not exceed eight pages in length and be formatted using the IEEE Computer Society format described at http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. Include the author's name(s), affiliations, addresses, and electronic mail addresses. Papers are solicited and will be reviewed in either research or applied categories. Research papers should describe results that contribute to advancements in state-of-the-art virtual reality software, hardware, 3-D CHI, or systems development. Applied papers should present prototype or fielded virtual reality systems. Applied papers should include a concise description of the application area, provide insight into the relevant VR system implementation issues, and discuss the effectiveness of the VR system with respect to the application area. Authors may submit video materials to aid the program committee in the review of their submission. Videos must be submitted following the instructions on video submissions (see "Call for Videos"). In this case, indicate that videotapes have been submitted by checking the "with supporting video" check box on the Electronic Submission Web Page. Videos submitted with papers will be automatically considered for possible inclusion in the video proceedings. VR NEWS will provide a $1,000 Best Technical Paper Award. Each video submission should be clearly narrated in English and should stand on its own. Videos that present work described in submitted papers are also acceptable. A video submission consists of seven tapes of a video segment not to exceed five minutes in length in 1/2 inch NTSC VHS format, a one-page information sheet containing a 200-word abstract plus references and acknowledgments, title, authors, affiliations, and contact information, including e-mail address for the lead author, and label tapes with title and authors.
