At any rate, it might not be so much that people want to introduce text/numbers into the VE proper, but that they want to be able to use their xterm without leaving the virtual world. I also might want to chat from inside my VE with someone who is sitting at a traditional desktop using IRC. Ultimately I want to do everything in the VE that I can do on my desktop.
