The deadline for YVR has been extended to Nov 30, 2002 ! YVR is a small forum for promising graduate students around the world to get together and discuss the future of VR, media, and related technologies. It will be held from Feb 13 - 15 in Korea, and all authors of the accepted abstracts will be invited to Korea (travel and board paid). It is an excellent opportunity not only to present one's idea and make academic discussions, but also to make friends and contacts with future leaders of the related research community. For details, visit www.vrrc.org/yvr2003 (there is an English section, click on the lower left part of the page). Please encourage your students, researchers, acquiantances, friends, etc. many thanks, Gerry Kim, POSTECH, Korea. =============== The Second Young Investigators¡Ç Forum in Virtual Reality [Young VR 2003] 2003. 2.13-15 Phoenix Park Ski Resort, Kangwon Province, Korea (Jointly held with the Korean HCI Conference) Call for Paper Young Investigators Forum in VR (YVR) is a small-scale, free form, higly interactive, and intensive workshop discussing the future of virtual reality, media and related technologies. It is a unique and one of a kind workshop that only invites advanced graduate students (or someone with similar credentials) around the world. YVR 2003, following the highly successful YVR 2001, will be held jointly with the Korean Human Computer Interaction Conference (KHCI), one of the largest and most active conferences in the rapidly emerging Korea's IT academia and industry, annually held at the Phoenix Park Ski Resort near Seoul. This will supply more audience and interaction, and an opportunity to make one's idea more far reaching. The Virtual Reality Research Center (VRRC) of Korea (http://vrrc.kaist.ac.kr/) invites graduate students (or any individual with similar credentials) around the world to submit an extended abstract of 2000 words on all aspects of virtual reality, media and related technologies. Our particular focus is in presenting a credible vision of the future, rather than small or incremental technical results, with respect to the use of VR (or newly defined media) in our lives. The main contributor of the submission must be a graduate student, preferably who has finished one's research proposal toward one's PhD degree. Due to the nature of the forum, we will only accept around 10 submissions. All accepted participants will be provided with all or partial expenses for travel and lodging (roundtrip plane tickets to Korea, and room/meal). For detailed format of the forum, visit the forum web site at vrrc.kaist.ac.kr/yvr2001 (this year's homepage not up yet). The first two days will be consisted of presentations and discussion rounds and during the final day, a social event is planned as an opportunity for the participants to get to know one another more. The forum hopes to provide an execellent opportunity for the young researchers of VR around the world to present, discuss, and cultivate new ideas. Submission deadline for the extended abstracts is November 1, 2002 with notification of acceptance by December 15, 2002. Please submit abstracts (or inquiries) to: Gerry J. Kim at POSTECH, Korea (gkim@postech.ac.kr). The official language is English.
