VI Symposium on Virtual Reality – SVR 2003

Ribeirão Preto, SP, Brazil, October 15 – 18, 2003
Call for Papers

The Symposium on Virtual Reality is an international forum,
sponsored by the Brazilian Society of Computing (SBC), which
brings together researchers, practitioners, students, and
other professionals concerned with the advances and
applications of virtual reality, for the exchange of
experience and knowledge in this field.

The first five symposia were held in São Carlos (1997),
Marília (1999), Gramado (2000), Florianópolis (2001), and
Fortaleza (2002).

This year, the sixth SVR will be held in Ribeirão Preto,
located in the state of São Paulo in southeast Brazil.

The activities planed for SVR 2003 consist of invited talks,
tutorials, short courses, technical sections for the
presentation of selected papers, panel sections, poster
sections, demonstrations, a contest of Virtual Worlds, and a
Workshop of thesis on Virtual Reality.

PAPER SUBMISSION
You are invited to participate by submitting your work
dealing with important aspects of virtual reality, which
include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Artificial life;

· Augmented reality;

· Collaborative Virtual Environments;

· Hardware and software for virtual reality;

· Human-computer interaction in 3D virtual environments;

· Multi-resolution modeling and rendering;

· Networked virtual reality systems;

· Real-time graphics techniques;

· Real-time simulation, animation and visualization;

· Social, economical and technical impacts of virtual
reality;

· Virtual humans and avatars;

· Virtual reality for scientific visualization;

· VR applications in entertainment, architecture,
education, medicine, industry, e-commerce, marketing, etc.;

· VR systems development.

After the peer review process, the selected papers will be
published in the conference proceedings and presented in the
technical sections of the symposium.

Full papers, short papers and posters must be submitted
electronically and can be written either in English or
Portuguese. The final format and iinstructions to the authors
are available in the homepage of the event.

Full papers must be at most 12 pages long, the short papers
must be 3 pages long, and posters must be 1 page long, and
must be sent in either pdf or postscript.
