Opening ceremonies on Day 1 around 6:45AM.
A poignant reminder of why I wanted to do this.
Still waiting for the walk to start. Supporters are on the stairs.
The Capitol Building was the first landmark of the entire walk.
Peak of the Capitol Building.
The Capitol Building was a photo spot for many of the walkers.
"Cheering Stations" lined the route. Free candy and applause helped keep us going.
Inside the dining tent where all the festivities and announcements were made.
Nightly revelry. I think this woman won something but maybe she just wanted to dance.
Pink tents. Two people to a tent.
Decorated pink tents were common. I think these made it through the wind and rain on the first night.
Rememberance tents -- one per 3Day city -- to remember past walkers that lost the fight.
Pit stop #1 on Day 2. Even though it was only 1.5 miles in, I already needed a break.
One of the larger cheering stations. It was raining and people still sat outside and cheered!
This particular RV was offerring wine! If my legs weren't cramping right then, I would have stopped.
The 3Day Dance Party!
Me. (rockin' the flock of seagulls hairstyle)
Start of Day 3.
Lunch Day 3.
Firefighters on the walk. (For you Aimee!) ;-)
The National Equality March passed right before I got to Pennsylvania Avenue. Would have detoured if I had known (and been able to walk faster).
Washington monument is visible with only 1 mile to go.
Mile 60 is at the pink pylons.
After finishing and relaxing for a bit, I joined other walkers in congratulating those that finished after me.
Haha. Caught Lyssa laughing. Without Lyssa, I would have never made through miles 38-42. Thanks Lyssa! (It was her first walk too.)
We're all waiting to make the victory walk.
The victory walk ends at the Lincoln Memorial... just... over... there.
These women in pink shirts have beaten breast cancer and just walked 60 miles.
Taking our victory lap.
