CS6604: Designing and Implementing Online Education Systems
Assignment 3: Spring 2015
20% of semester grade
You must write a paper on a topic relevant to the course topic of online educational software systems. Your paper must be at least five full pages (one inch margins), single spaced at 11 point Times-Roman font or the equivalent, not including references. The final submission should be in the form of a PDF file emailed to Dr. Shaffer Final papers are due on Reading Day (Thursday, May 7).
Your paper might be on a topic related to your class presentation, or your semester project, or something else entirely. Some ideas for paper topics include: description and analysis of some existing system; an investigation and critical analysis of some pedagogical topic (such as the "No Significant Difference" controversy or the "Learning Styles" controversy); or a plan for some original research that you might conduct in the future.
The paper topic must be approved by Dr. Shaffer. All students should have reached agreement with Dr. Shaffer on the paper topic by Monday, February 16. By that date, send me email describing what you would like to write about.
In addition to the presentation topics listed under Assignment 1, here are some additional potential topics for papers.
- Something related to whatever thesis project that you are doing, if it is relevant to the course.
- Something related to the semester project that you are doing for this course.
- An assessment/comparison of major MOOC providers.
