Welcome! My name is Sarah, and I'm currently a Masters student in the department of computer science at Virginia Tech, focused in the area of human-computer interaction. I work with Dr. Chris North as part of the Gigapixel project. My research involves interaction techniques for large, high-resolution displays. This semester (fall 2007) I am the TA for CS 5764, Information Visualization. The class website can be found here. To those enrolled in the class, please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions or concerns. I recieved my Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Clemson University in 2006. As part of the computer science departmental honors program, I worked with Dr. Roy Pargas on undergraduate research on educational uses of the Tablet PC, specifically for teaching Russian language. I am an active member of the Association for Women in Computing (AWC) and have recently become part of the Graduate Council, serving as the Faculty representative for the 2007-08 school year. I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee (even though I'm not that great) and am an on-and-off runner ever since I went out for cross country in high school. I'm a bit of a Russophile, and am really interested in their language and culture (having studied Russian for several years & been twice :). I'm really a Southern girl at heart, and I love watching sports, especially all Clemson sports and Virginia Tech football.
