I am a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science at Virginia Tech. My research focuses on providing scholars better support to work with parts of documents in the electronic world. I am particularly interested in how scholars make use of parts of images in various educational tasks. My advisor is Dr. Edward A. Fox. For more information on my research, I encourage you to go through my projects page and my publications.
In Summer 2007, as a research intern with the Statistical Content Analytics Group at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Center, I developed a methodology for evaluation of combinations of interoperating natural language processing engines (Interspeech'07 paper).
Before joining Virginia Tech, I was with Dr. Noel Greis and Dr. Jack Olin (Center for Logistics and Digital Strategy, Kenan Institute, UNC-Chapel Hill), working on agent-based real-time prognostics. Prior to that, I was a software engineer with IBM Global Services, India, for over two years, working on various development and research projects.
I have a Master's degree in Computer Applications from the National Institute of Technology, Trichy, India, and a BSc. degree in a combined major of Physics, Electronics and Mathematics from the St. Joseph's College of Arts and Science, Bangalore University, India.
My current CV is available here.
