ResearchSuperimposed InformationMy main research is in the area of Superimposed Information (SI). SI refers to new interpretation of existing information, such as annotations, concept maps, multimedia presentations (composed from existing material), etc. SI brings together the areas of digital annotations, hypertext, digital libraries and knowledge management. Details on the work that I have done on SI till date are available at http://si.dlib.vt.edu. Personal Information Management (PIM)I am interested in PIM and various factors affecting PIM tasks (such as finding, re-finding, filing, etc). I am involved in the Memex project, where we are investigating uses of the SenseCam device, especially by people with disabilities. VizBlog Blog VisualizationIn Spring 2007, I worked on the Digital Government project, developing a prototype visualization for local community blogs. The objective of this visualization is to help citizens and local government officals in getting information and insights on discussions in blogs. Software AgentsBefore I began my PhD program, I worked on agent-based real-time prognostics at the Kenan Institute in Chapel Hill, NC. This project involves research in the application of agent-based machine learning techniques (specifically, associative-memory) for real-time diagnostics and prognostics of a complex physical system (one that is driven by several variables - for example, an automobile, aeroplane, an oil reservoir, etc). |
