Design and Development of a Portable Robotic Telescopic Arm

As part of the requirements of the Diploma degree in National Technical University of Athens Greece, I completed a thesis project in the Control Systems Laboratory. The objective of the thesis was to design and develop a portable telescopic mechanism which is also lightweight. The mechanism will be controlled and used by humans in order to fetch items located at a certain distance, an action which would otherwise cause discomfort or be impossible for the user.

I worked with Solidworks to design and build the mechanical assembly. I also used Eagle to design the electrical components and finally programmed an Arduino to control the arm manually. A demonstration can be seen below:
