How to Count Bugs: A method to estimate absolute population density from trap catches
- A relationship between insect abundance, peak density and flight time. As it turns out, completely different species obey a simple law.
- Entomologists use traps to assess insect population in a given area. We derive a simple relationship for the probabaility to catch an insect depending how far it is from the trap.
