Notable Publications and Scholarship
  1. CS PhD student Elaheh Raisi was lead author on a paper recognized with the best paper award at the IEEE/ACM International Conference on Advances in Social Network Analysis and Mining (ASONAM 2017). The paper, "Cyberbullying Detection with Weakly Supervised Machine Learning," was co-authored with her advisor, Bert Huang.
  2. Briane Goode received one of the two innovation awards in the Fragile Families Challenge (http://www.fragilefamilieschallenge.org/), organized by Princeton University.

Professional Service, Recognitions, and Outreach

  1. Dwight Barnette, Steve Edwards, and Margaret Ellis, along with several students, led a week-long TechGirls camp for 28 girls from North Africa and the Middle East. The program, organized by CEED, received extensive media coverage.
  2. Daphne Yao is co-chair of the 1st Workshop for Women in Cybersecurity (CyberW), to be held in conjunction with the ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (CCS), on October 30.
  3. Daphne Yao was selected as Program Committee Chair for the IEEE Cybersecurity Development (SecDev) 2018 Conference.
  4. Eli Tilevich will serve as Program Committee Chair for the 15th International Conference on Managed Languages & Runtimes (ManLang 2018)
  5. Kurt Luther will serve as co-chair of the Program Committee for the Collective Intelligence 2018 conference.
  6. Ed Fox will serve as lead Program Committee Co-Chair for the ACM/IEEE-CS Joint Conference on Digital Libraries (JCDL 2018)
