Publications, Scholarship, and Research Recognitions
  1. The following PhD students were awarded summer fellowships by the department: Jessie Harden (Nance Fellowship), Joshua Detwiler (Nance Fellowship), Jiameng Pu (Kafura Fellowship), Fengjiao Li (Kafura Fellowship).
  2. Bo Ji was invited to give the Renouard Distinguished Lecture at the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Gonzaga University.
  3. Daphne Yao gave an invited talk at Zhejiang University.
  4. Daphne Yao received an Inspiring Innovator Award from Virginia Tech's LINK+LICENSE+LAUNCH.
  5. PhD student Xinyu Yang received a 2022 Black Hat Student Scholarship. Xinyu is advised by Peng Gao.
  6. Kurt Luther and PhD student Vikram Mohanty received a People's Choice Award from an NSF I-Corps (national) cohort for their team's final presentation.
  7. MS Student Emma Meno was a finalist for the COE Torgersen Graduate Student Research Excellence Award.

  11. The leadership of the ACM International Conference on Supercomputing (ICS 2022) included several Virginia Tech faculty members: Kirk Cameron (General Co-chair), Dimitris Nikolopoulous (Program Co-Chair), Ali Butt (Finance Chair).
  12. Daphne Yao joined the Steering Committee for NDSS.

  14. Bo Ji will serve as Workshop Co-Chair for IEEE INFOCOM 2023
  15. Bo Ji was named a Senior Member of the ACM.
