Systems Security Seminar |
Security is pervasive: it impacts everything around us. Security is
also never ending: as researchers in other fields build new systems,
security concerns come along with it. At the center of security is the
security of systems, i.e., security you can touch. This course explores
seminal and recent papers on attacking and defending systems. Papers
covered focus on application security, IOT security, and hardware security.
The goal of this class is to provide you an opportunity to expand and
refine your abilities as a systems researcher, with a focus on security.
Given that, you will read papers from top security conferences, evaluate
and discuss those papers, present a paper to the class, and complete a
systems research project of your own. I will provide feedback, context,
and insights into my research process along the way. Expected reading
is 1-2 papers per week.
I assume that you have a basic understanding of core computer security
topics (e.g., topics covered by CS 4264).
