Systems & Networking Capstone |
This course gives a capstone design experience for students interested
in systems & networking. In this course, students work on group
projects aimed at demonstrating a working prototype solution to a
problem with computer systems and networking challenges. Students will
address open-ended problems in computer systems and networking
requiring synthesis and integration of state-of-the-art system design
and implementation methods, techniques, and tools.
Successful projects in this course have the potential for commercialization
with an emphasis on collective contributions to a design team with a
diversity of experience. Projects will enable the students to exercise and
reinforce the fundamental principles that they have learned in prior
courses in this area, e.g., computer systems, computer architecture,
networking, parallel computation, and distributed computing.
The semester-long project culminates in presentations to local startup
entrepreneurs who give direct feedback to students and vote for the
best project.
Prerequisites: A grade of C or better in CS 3114 and CS 3214.
