Human-Computer Interaction Capstone |
CS 4784, Human-Computer Interaction Capstone, is a project-based capstone
course giving students a chance to apply their HCI concepts and theory to
real-world applications. Students will gain practical experience working
in teams of 3-4, working through a design-prototype-evaluate cycle for
their stakeholders. This year we will explore the use of WWW, VR, and
3D user interface technologies in the deployment of ‘Mirror Worlds’ such
as 3D Blacksburg. From education and training to science and engineering,
we will be building interactive projects that improve the accessibility and
impact of public data.
The class will meet Thursdays, from 3:30 to 6:15 p.m. Early in the semester
a list of specific projects and clients will be circulated. The course will
begin with a short review of HCI and User Experience (Ux) fundamentals and
some team activities, but the majority of the work will be done outside of
class and with your clients/partners. Final deliverables will be a working
prototype, a website and report, and poster to be presented at a showcase event.
Prerequisite: A grade of C or better in CS 3724 and CS 3744.
