This is a project-based course that provides hands-on experience of tools and methods
in the field of machine learning and data analytics. Many useful insights can be
derived from data in a variety of disciplines and application domains ranging from
computer science, social science, biology, to physics.
By working on a semester-long group project, you will learn how to apply the data
science workflow: formulating a real-world problem as a machine learning question,
collecting and preprocessing data, iteratively applying machine learning tools and
analyzing the results, and preparing a final report of your results and findings.
Students can propose a project of their choice or the instructor can help supply
ideas to choose from.
