Software Engineering Capstone |
In this capstone, students will learn what it takes to build and operate an
enterprise-grade SaaS application while developing a Minimum Viable Product (MVP)
to solve a real-world problem.
This course will utilize videoconferencing as the primary teaching medium, complemented
by offline channels such as slack/teams for communication. We will have multiple in-class
activities, guest lectures from Industry, and presentations.
Learning objectives for this include:

Demystify vital elements of enterprise application and development process.

Prerequisite for the class is a C or better in CS 3704 OR 3714 OR 3754.
Bio for Madhan Subhas (MS, Virginia Tech CS, 1996):
Software Executive and Entrepreneur with extensive experience in building enterprise
software platforms and business at Microsoft and Startups. Ally.io was acquired by
Microsoft and Chronus was acquired by private equity.
Led information security and engineering at Ally.io while managing the acquisition.
Ally.io, an OKR-based, Business Execution Platform established in 2018, grew to 1,000
customers in over 80 countries and a team of 250+ amazing people. Before Ally.io,
I bootstrapped Chronus and built a highly successful B2B SaaS Mentoring solution that
used enterprises including GE, Amazon, and Coca-Cola. Chronus was acquired by a private
equity firm and continue to grow strongly.
Held leadership roles in Street Solutions as COO and CIO revamping company operations
and fin tech product while building industry security program.
Before that, as part of Microsoft Corporation successfully led the definition and
development of various early-stage products targeting consumer and enterprise markets,
including Visual Studio Team Foundation Server, Visual Web Developer, HomeAdvisor
Loan platform, and MSN Ad Server platform.
