Computational Biology & Bioinformatics Capstone |
Ever wonder how computer science has revolutionized the fields of life and
biomedical sciences? In this class, you will understand the impact of computer
science on biology and why biology is crippled without the help of computer
science. You will be exposed and work on a number of interesting projects, such
as analyzing/processing hundreds of GB sequence data generated from healthy
human guts and sick human guts, computationally predict or identify microbes
that might be deadly pathogens that carry antibiotic resistance. You will
conduct exciting research in coming up with new tools that helps/facilitates
this process. The only requirement is that you are excited about the challenges
arising from big data generated in biology.
Prerequisite: permission of instructor.
