Bowman, Ph.D. (540) 231-7537 Assistant Professor bowman@vt.edu Computer Science www.cs.vt.edu/~bowman/ Virginia Tech -----Original Message----- From: Gunnar Bergersen [mailto:gunnab@ifi.uio.no] Sent: Wednesday, January 12, 2000 4:14 PM To: bowman@vt.edu Subject: Subscription to the 3D UI mailing list. Hi. I am a student at the University of Oslo, Norway currently working on my degree in computer engineering. During the last year, I have been working on a final report (1 year workload) about the importance of user-friendly interface design in 3D environments. I am doing my research at Telenor Research and Development, in a small research group called Applied Media Technology (http://amt.fou.telenor.no/). I am also currently working there as a programmer part-time. The main focus in the report is whether animation in 3D models gives users an easier way of understanding the properties and abilities an interactive 3D object affords. The setting is in a screen-based, distributed (4 users), virtual 3D environment, with a normal mouse as the interaction device. In this regard, I am on a never-ending hunt for relevant publications. I am also wondering if this has been done before in an empirical study. Any help would be greatly appreciated, especially if you know of something similar that has been done before. Yours sincerely, Gunnar Bergersen --
