Well... There are a few things you might want to look into: 1. Look at Mozilla (http://www.mozilla.org) and Gecko (Mozilla's rendering engine) and see if it's possible to hack it to draw to an off-screen buffer instead of to the screen. Gecko is fast, light-weight, and Open Source, and should work admirably here (in other words, you don't have to cope with all the bloat of a real web browser, you just get the layout stuff). 2. Better yet, forget about using a custom solution for a web browser, and instead use 3Dwm[1] to display a maximized Netscape window on a 3D surface--this can be anything from a quad to a sphere or something even more esoteric. 3. Develop a "true" 3D web browser for Objective Reality's Synapse[2] system (or for the upcoming 3Dwm v 0.2 which is under development and will be available *soonish*). Btw, the 3Dwm project, which I am a developer of (as if you couldn't tell due to all the name-dropping), has gone Open Source, and the initial v 0.1 release is available for download at our web site.
