Specifically, what devices currently available are the most useful in VEs? How do we choose devices based on task? Will the most profitable interaction techniques use very domain-specific input devices or general ones? Finally, which area is the most useful to explore - software that allows us to do new things with existing devices, or research into completely new input devices? This was spurred by comments from Joseph a while ago. My personal take in my dissertation is that we can do most interesting things with only trackers and button devices, but I'm sure there are other viewpoints out there.
