Because of the diverse and multidisciplinary content in this course, I am going about putting together readings for each of the sections rather than assigning one textbook. Doing ok on this so far, but have a couple of sections that I'm still looking for suggestions and possible references for any of the following topics...perhaps very good papers, chapters, online resources, etc? Since this course will be taken by a diverse group of students (psychology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Systems, Cinema/film, Communications), I'm looking for good general explanatory works that would be usable across students with varying domain specific knowledge. Some areas I'm looking for include: 1. Introduction to traditional Human Factors;HF Methods (Needs Analysis, Requirements Analysis, GOMS, etc.); User Centered Design/Usability Engineering Tools & Evaluation (Heuristic Expert, Formative, and Summative Evaluation, etc.) 2. Trends for designing with demographics/target markets/scientific zeitgeist in mind. 3. Technology Lifecycle Issues 4. Human Computer Interaction (Basics, Perceptual User Interfaces, Tangible user interfaces, Gestural based HCI, Emotional computing, 3D user interfaces etc.) 5. Information Processing Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions...I'll buy a round at the next conference in repayment! ;-) Best Regards, Skip Albert "Skip" Rizzo, Ph.D. Research Assistant Professor Integrated Media Systems Center and School of Gerontology University of Southern California 3715 McClintock Ave. MC-0191 Los Angeles, CA. 90089-0191 email: arizzo@usc.edu phone: 213-740-9819 or 213-740-5540 fax: 213-740-8241 IMSC: A National Science Foundation Engineering Research Center at USC http://imsc.usc.edu !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***JOIN THE VIRTUAL REALITY MENTAL HEALTH EMAIL LIST SERVER...355 (SO FAR) PROFESSIONALS WORLDWIDE SHARING IDEAS, DATA, AND THE LATEST INFORMATION.
