Place a one-paragraph abstract of your position paper here.

Keywords

Workshop, template, paper organization

Paper Category: position paper or technical paper
Emphasis: research or education (you may list both)

1.  Introduction

Set up the context and importance of the problem or issue you are raising. In this template, we are outlining the basic structure of a workshop position paper submission. You do not have to follow this outline religiously--it is only meant as a rough guide. Use it to answer any questions you may have about the formatting for either position paper or technical paper submissions for the RESOLVE Workshop 2002.

As discussed in the author guidelines, papers must be formatted as simple, vanilla HTML, just like this template. HTML generated by programs (such as Microsoft Word) that attempt to force the look of a printed document are especially discouraged. If you wish to include figures or illustrations in your document, please use .GIF, .PNG, or .JPG files and submit all image files together with your HTML file in a ZIP archive or a compressed tar archive.

2.  The Problem

Clearly identify a specific issue or question that you would like to see discussed in one of the workshop tracks, and show how it relates to the workshop's topics.

3.  The Position

Take a position with respect to the issue or problem raised. Justify the position. Positions intended to spark discussion are welcome.

4.  Justification

Justify the position. This may be the longest section of your paper. Feel free to use subsections where ever necessary. Figure 1 shows how you might include figures. Tables can be formatted similarly.

Feel free to use links within your document. Also, use references where necessary [Sitaraman94]. You are encouraged to add links to on-line copies of cited documents where available, including ACM or IEEE digital library document links if needed. You are also welcome to include links to web pages and other resources, but please place them in references for readers referring to a printed version of your paper [Edwards02].

5.  Related Work

Compare the position taken with past and current work related to the issue.

6.  Conclusion

Conclude by identifying specific discussion goals derived from this issue. In other words, how would you like to shape the discussions at the workshop and their results?
