Your account has been recreated for the summer session. Remember to select "support personnel" on the front page when you login. If you leave it as "Virginia Tech", your login will fail (since your guest account isn't authenticated through VT's campus-wide authentication service).
In effect, you can think of each "institution" listed on the front page as being a separate domain of users, possibly with a different authentication mechanism in use. User IDs need only be unique within an institution/domain, not across all institutions served by this Web-CAT server. The server has a plug-in API for authentication mechanisms, so any given Web-CAT server can support as many (or as few) different institutions and authentication mechanisms as desired.
That being said, all guest accounts on this server are created under the "Support Personnel" institution/domain, which uses simple database-stored passwords within Web-CAT itself.

Let me know how it goes ... and let me know if you have any further trouble with the guest account.

The proposal was successfully submitted to the Advanced Learning Technologies program at NSF (thanks for your help!).
For those of you on the list who don't know about the proposal, we requested three years of support to do research on how we can support automatic grading and feedback generation for GUI-based and event-driven programs, how we can apply Web-CAT's capabilities across a wide range of programming activities from simple fill- -the-blank or skeleton completion problems, through writing single methods (like the free response questions on the AP exam or on many of your finals), all the way to full-fledged independent programming assignments (which it already does). We also promised to create an open-source Web-CAT project and integrate Web-CAT's services into Moodle and Sakai, two open-source course management systems.
