Subject: [Web-CAT-board] Welcome to the Web-CAT Advisory Board mailing list


OK, now that the semester is over (and you've probably already left campus!), I've gotten the basic elements for the student advisory board set up.

First, we now have a mailing list to use (this one). Only student members of the advisory board (and me) are members. The entire discussion archive of this list is open to the public, however, and is archived on the advisory board's web page.

The advisory board's web page is on the Web-CAT wiki:

A wiki, if you haven't used one before, is a group-editable web site. When you visit the url above, you can self-create your own account using the login link on the upper left of the page (use FirstnameLastname as your user name, and make up a password). Once you have created your account, you'll be able to edit any of the pages just by clicking the edit link on that page. If you're new to wikis, click the FrontPage tab and read the getting started instructions.

We won't have our first face-to-face meeting until everyone comes back in the fall, but for now, since the semester just ended, I'd encourage all of you to brainstorm about what you think the biggest issues are with Web-CAT. You can simply reply to this listserv to share your thoughts with the rest of the group. Once you have the hang of editing on the wiki, you can keep a more structured list there, together with suggestions for how to address them.
