CS-6824: Genome Bioinformatics Liqing Zhang, Computer Science This course is intended for students with or without background in biology, to get to know current state-of-the art bioinformatics in the genomic era. With the prospect of personalized medicine and the coming age of $1000 genomes, analysis of genome data has met with many challenges and many exciting topics emerge as a result. This course will include an introduction to the field and hands-on experience with possible genome-oriented research projects that will benefit from collaborative work between students from computational sciences and biological science. Students from both computational sciences (CS, math, and statistics) and life sciences are encouraged to attend the class, which will not only introduce you to some important topics in this area, but also give you hands-on experience working on a project and writing up a research paper.
