The goal of 5714 is to introduce students to design and evaluation of effective user interfaces. Issues include (a) product design principles, (b) iterative life cycle management, systems analysis, design, usability specifications, (c) design representation techniques and models, (d)) prototyping, and formative user-based evaluation. The offering has an integrative and cross-disciplinary approach with main emphasis on usability methods and the user interaction development process.
