Human intelligence and artificial intelligence (AI) are fundamentally intertwined. This course explores how to combine the complementary strengths of humans and AI to solve complex problems and improve the human condition. We will survey recent research in crowdsourcing, human computation, human-in-the-loop and mixed-initiative systems, intelligent user interfaces, explainable AI/ML, ethical issues, and other major topics. This course will involve both readings/discussion and software development.
Prior coursework in human-computer interaction (HCI) and/or AI is recommended.
