Subject: [Web-CAT-announce] Web-CAT now supports on-line code commenting in Firefox
Message-ID: <431A575E.7020100@cs.vt.edu>

You probably know that Web-CAT allows course staff to directly enter and edit comments on student code right through the web browser. However, this capability has been limited to Internet Explorer users because of some browser-specific Javascript.

However, this capability has now been extended to Firefox, Mozilla, Netscape and other browsers based on the Gecko engine. The Javscript has been generalized to work for these browsers. I haven't tried it under Safari, but we should be able to get it to work under Safari as well--I just need to find a local Safari user willing to volunteer a few hours of debugging time :-). Anyway, those who don't like IE (or cannot use it on their OS) should be a bit more supported. Try it and let me know of any bugs you encounter.
