Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate positions are limited and are offered only when there is a suitable project and sufficient mentoring capacity. Strong candidates are self-motivated, prepared for sustained work on difficult problems, and able to commit for at least one year, preferably two.
Before contacting us, explore our active research areas and read at least one relevant paper from the lab. In your message, identify a specific question, result, or method that caught your attention and explain why. Please also include a brief description of your background, relevant coursework or experience, a CV, and your expected weekly availability.
Previous research experience is helpful but not required. Generic inquiries that do not demonstrate familiarity with the lab’s work may not receive a response.
Who would enjoy working here?
You may feel at home in our group if you are curious about fundamental scientific questions, persistent when a problem resists an answer, and willing to learn across disciplinary boundaries. We value self-motivated students who are committed to working hard, appreciate the flexibility to largely set their own hours, and enjoy collaborating with others. Above all, we value an interest in understanding why a method works—not just how to use it.
